Bhubaneswar, June 3: Budding shutterbugs of the city are gearing up for a 300km expedition on their motorcycles to capture panoramic landscapes on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Members of photography club Mushroom, which was formed at the beginning of this year, will set out on this journey on June 16. The first leg of the journey will be from Bhubaneswar to Satapada via Puri. Post lunch, the troupe will head out to enjoy a ferry ride at Janhikuda ghat. The return journey requires the photographers to make pit stops at Chilika and Rambha. The focus will be on honing photography skills in genres such as landscape, portrait and wildlife photography.

The trip would be conducted under the guidance of experienced photographers Udayan Sarathi Behera and Partha Pratim Patra. Both of them had earlier travelled to Koraput on their motorcycles to photograph landscapes and had covered at least 1,700km.

“Riding a motorcycle in different terrains of Odisha is an enriching experience. Partha and I will lead the pack, as we are well aware of the route. We have timed the trip now because the heat has reduced. We are hoping to capture migratory birds, red crabs, dolphins and elephants,” said the 26-year-old Udayan. He said that 10 members, including women, have already agreed to be part of the trip. “We have to make sure that the trip is not only fun but also safe,” he said.

Apart from photography, the trip aims to promote tourism in the state. The photographs taken by the group would be exhibited later. Members of the group are also thinking of organising a bigger expedition in Sonepur and Boudh towards the end of the month. The group, which has 30 odd members, had organised its debut exhibition titled Memoir in April.

The young members of the group are excited about the trip. “It will be my first such experience. I am looking forward to the journey where I can learn from the seniors. I will also try to execute some of my own ideas,” said Subrat Dash, an enterprising animator.
