Bhubaneswar, March 1: Odia film star Sabyasachi spent nearly half-an-hour at the traffic police station today, However, it was not for any offence.
The actor was taking tips from the assistant commissioner of police (traffic) Nirmal Satpathy for his upcoming movie Om Sai Ram. The actor plays a cop in this movie.
“I am playing the role of Ram, a police inspector. Satpathy sir has been teaching me how to wear the uniform in a proper way and giving me tips on the body language a policeman should have. This was my fourth visit to his office. I am grateful to him for sparing time for me despite his packed schedule,” Sabyasachi said.
The actor said it was commissioner of police B.K. Sharma, who had suggested that he take tips from Satpathy. “I met the commissioner a few weeks ago to invite him to the premiere of my last release (Kebe Tame Naha, Kebe Mun Naahin) and asked him to guide me for my new project. He referred me to Satpathy sir, saying he was the right person to help me out,” he said.
The first time Sabyasachi went to Satpathy’s office, was with his costume designer. They had discussed at length about a “proper” police uniform.
“He told me that even in Hindi films, the designers do not pay much attention to the khakis. He instructed my designer accordingly and today, I wore the costume and had gone to meet him. He said it looked fine,” he added.
Then Satpathy taught Sabyasachi the demeanour of policemen and the way they should be carrying their arms.
“He spent about half an hour in my office today. We talked about his film, the action sequences and how a policeman walks, talks and carries himself. Sabysachi is one of my favourite actors and a true gentleman,” the police officer said.
At present, Om Sai Ram is being shot in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Directed by Hara Patnaik, the film revolves around the lives of three brothers – Om, Sai and Ram – who have conflicting interests. Manas and Buddhaditya play the characters of Om and Sai respectively. The lead actress of the film is Prakruti Mishra. Koel Banerjee has been cast opposite Buddhaditya and Moushumi opposite Manas.
“The interesting part is that Om is involved in illegal activities and I am an officer of law. Sai is a funny character, who is perennially hunting for jobs. It would be a different type of film, with a mix of family drama, romance and action. Since we have just started shooting, I cannot say when the movie will release, but I am confident that people will love it,” Sabyasachi said.
