
Science camp
The closing ceremony of the summer science camp hosted by Blossoms School, Bharatpur, was held on May 13. The camp, which started from May 2, was aimed at honing the talents of students in various cultural disciplines such as art and craft, dance, music and acting. Blossoms School founder-manager Touraj Moghbelpour and director Nadia Moghbelpour presented certificates to the participants. Among other delegates present on the occasion, principal Purnima Paikaray was the most prominent figure.
Valedictory event
Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir at Gajapati Nagar in Bhubaneswar celebrated the valedictory function for Class X students recently. Experts from various fields attended the events and shared their views with students. They spoke about future prospects in various fields.
Around 111 students, who passed the board examination, were present to take part in the event. For seven years, the school has achieved cent per cent results, giving a good account of itself on a state level.
Birth anniversary
Tata Steel recently celebrated the 112th birth anniversary of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, founder of the Santhali script Olchiki, at Bhitarmanika of the Kalinga Nagar Industrial Area. Schoolchildren of various ages took part in general knowledge and drawing competitions that were organised on the occasion. A quiz competition on the lifestyle of Murmu and Olchiki was also held during the event. Some students also performed tribal dances.
Consultation camp
Unicef and Action Aid jointly organised a consultation event on the “Prohibition of Child Marriage Act” here last week.
The objective of the consultation programme was to develop a monitoring framework to safeguard children from such practises. State Unicef head Yumi Bae, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Kasturi Mohapatra and other officials were present on the occasion and discussed ways to reach out to rural areas and educate guardians against the offences of child marriage.
Singing star
Satyajit Jena, a Class VII student of Vivekananda Shiksha Kendra, has been offered a weeklong internship at music maestro A.R. Rahman’s studio in Chennai. The 11-year-old is winning hearts with his performances in a reality show being aired on a pan-Indian private entrainment channel. He received the offer for his rendition of the title track of Mani Ratnam’s Roja during one of the episodes of the show. Rahman had composed the score of the film.
Summer delight
The 10-day Summer Fiesta of SAI International School concluded on May 11. The programme was attended by parents and family members of the participants, who were delighted to watch the learning activities of the children on video as well as live presentations. The students charmed onlookers with music, a skit, yoga and other programmes. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and a walk through the art and craft display section. The senior group took part in activities such as yoga, swimming, dance, drama and learning the various nuances of movie making such as script writing, editing etc and also learnt about panel discussions, through the in-house studio, SAI TV. The junior group had fitness sessions such as yoga and swimming and activities to experience various facets of artistic emotions through music and dance. They had storytelling sessions as well.
