Cuttack: Complaint by a human rights activist that the sanitation condition was precarious at Sishu Bhavan has been vindicated by the recommendations of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) for a step up in the civic body's sanitation work.
An OHRC team had assessed the condition and basic amenities at Sishu Bhavan after Pravat Ranjan Dash filed a complaint.
While Sishu Bhavan superintendent Saroj Satpathy had filed a reply, Dash had submitted a rejoinder.
The OHRC team reported that garbage was accumulating around the buildings, affecting sanitation "due to non-performance of duties of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on a daily basis".
The commission issued an order with several recommendations. "The CMC authorities should engage men and machines to keep the entire Sishu Bhavan complex neat and clean," the commission said in its order last week.
