Bhubaneswar, Jan. 29: With hardly four weeks left for the CBSE exams to begin, one might expect students to be flipping through their textbooks, solvingtest papers and digging through their short notes.

But this time, the style of revision is seeing a sharp change, especially with the advent of technology.Students are now preferring to put aside a few hours daily for the 'Internet revision', which includes viewing short clips on portions and chapters available on Youtube.

There are many companies, mostly the e-tutorials, that prepare such items forstudents. They are usually on physics, chemistry and biology that students find difficult to comprehend.

'It is always easier for me to watch and understand the experiments on an audiovisual medium rather than looking at plain diagrams and memorising things,' said Ankit, a student.

Another student said they found the Internet revision useful to understand the complex theorems of physics as well.

'Online lectures on topics such as magnetic effects of electric current, magnetic field light, reflection and refraction, spherical mirrors and so on are best when watched and understood than simply mug up. Also when we have technology at hands, why should we not use it,' said Jigyasa, who is also preparing for the exams the online way.

Parents, however, appeared a bit sceptic on this front. 'Though I allow my son to use the Internet, I keep an eye on himabout what he is watching as there are a lot of other things that may distract him,' said Mayuri Patra, a parent, adding that she sits along with her son when he is using the computer.

'He gets irritated at times, but this cannot be compromised,' she said.

A few students, however, appear irked with some private e-tutorial agencies that are 'harassing' them with frequent calls. 'I had earlier signed in for e-tutorial classes. Since then, those people have been making endless calls, asking me to sign in for some online revision classes. I am comfortable studying my own way and do not like to be disturbed,' said Satish, a student.

There are a few others who like to revise in the traditional way. They feel that revision using test papers and sample papers is the best way to prepare for the exams. These students do surf Internet to download the latest sample test papers but do not opt for video tutorials, as they are 'time-consuming'.
