Balangir: Residents of Indira Nagar in the district heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday after they were supplied with drinking water through tanker by the public health department after eight days.

The public health department assured that two water tanks would be installed at the locality shortly.

The residents of Indira Nagar had been facing problems as the pipe-water supply by the public health department to the area had stopped eight days ago.

A source said Indira Nagar area gets pipe-water supply from Manoharpur pump house in Balangir. But due to some technical snags, the pump went out of order as a result of which pipe-water supply to the area was disrupted.

The hot weather also added to the problems. A public health department official said people would get the normal supply of pipe-water within two or three days.

Assistant engineer of public health department Rajib Kishan said residents would get the tanker water till the pipe-water supply is restored.

"We are working on to restore the normal pipe-water supply to the residents in two or three days. Till then, water supply through tanker will continue. We also plan to install two syntax tanks to store water in the area soon," Kishan said.
