Bhubaneswar, May 31: A new set of books for junior colleges redesigned on the lines of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus will reach the market by the last week of June.
Director of the Odisha State Bureau of Text Book Preparation, Geetika Patnaik, said that the process had already started.
"The syllabus as well as question bank will be available in the book itself in order to guide both teachers as well as students. The books will be available at the Odisha State Bureau as well as shops and colleges." She said. The classes in junior colleges will start from July 4. The admission for the first selection students will be over by June 13.
Neha Mohanty, who cleared her matriculation with good marks, is hopeful of getting a seat in one of the top two junior colleges here. However, the delay in availability of books has worried her.
"I have a lot of spare time during this gap. Had the books been available in the market, I could have utilised my time studying. The last week of June is very late and would lead to delay in preparations," said Neha.
Teachers, too, are curious about the new books and wished it had been made available earlier. "It would have been easier for us too as we could prepare beforehand. We are unaware of what changes they have made," said Hrushikesh Rath, a faculty.
The syllabus has been changed for all the subjects in all the streams.
The state government decided to change the syllabus and introduce the books from this academic session in a move to help more Odia students crack all-India entrance tests such as JEE, CAT, MAT, XAT and other competitive exams.
