Bhubaneswar, Jan. 12: The annual property expo of the Odisha chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (Credai) started here with 96 major real estate developers showcasing their projects.

The expo, which will continue till January 15 at the Janata Maidan here, will offer prospective customers more than 100 ready-to-sale houses, assistance from nearly 11 financial partners, consultancy from interior designers and policy-makers.

Although the expo has been downsized compared to last year, Credai members are optimistic of a good response from the visitors. "While many of the projects are located in Bhubaneswar, some are located on the outskirts and some on Jajpur road," said Credai secretary Shashi Sekhar Garabadu.

Credai has put up two air-conditioned hangers to house nearly 100 kiosks of real estate developers, banks, designers and food courts. "The number of members showcasing their projects are less this time compared to last year, but we are hopeful of a good response from visitors," said Garabadu.

In the previous edition of the expo, Credai had put up 115 kiosks with around 5,000 ready-to-sale houses on offer. There were around 20 financial institutions providing assistance to the people.

Visitors found it useful but wanted to check out the properties' viability. "We have got a variety of properties to choose from, but it is necessary to check those. The brochures always look fascinating, but one cannot buy the property relying entirely on them," said Prashant Sahoo, a retired state government employee.

An association member said the expo was a one-stop solution to people's housing needs.

"They can come, choose and get their house through on-the-spot financial assistance from our banking partners. We will also create awareness about various properties on offer, their locations and the technology used in construction," he said.

The expo provides an opportunity to all categories of buyers, including the high, middle and lower-income groups and the poor, to get a range of houses.

The prices of houses on offer range are from Rs 15 lakh to around Rs 1 crore.
