Cuttack, Jan. 27: No complainant turned up before the fact-finding team constituted by the Ravenshaw University to collect evidence in the alleged harassment row at the premier institute today.
All the three senior faculty members, who had brought allegations of mental torture and sexual harassment, did not depose before the fact-finding team, alleging that they were not served prior notices by the authorities.
"I received the notice around 1:30pm today to appear before the committee at 11am which clearly shows the intention of the authorities and how far they are serious regarding such issues at the varsity," said Sanhita Padhi, a senior reader of the botany department.
Padhi alleged the role of the fact-finding team was also under scanner as earlier the matter was brought to the notice of Smarapriya Mishra, the council of deans, who is heading the team. But no action was taken despite the fact the first complaint was lodged in August last year.
"We are demanding for an impartial probe either by the crime branch or the vigilance department for the financial irregularities and sexual harassment cases against the students of the varsity," Padhi said.
"Mostly MPhil and PhD students are being sexually abused by senior professors of the department. Despite being the senior-most reader, I am being treated as a junior by the authority which is a clear violation of the service code norms," Padhi said.
"Girls are the target and exploited by the teachers. As justice is elusive, a few students without even complaining to the authorities of the sexual harassment cell have left the varsity," said Padhi.
