Bhubaneswar, Feb. 15: A poster exhibition stressing on the importance, necessity and utility of peace and harmony in the world is on display at Jayadev Bhavan in the capital.

The exhibition titled “Building a culture of peace for the children of the world” that started today is an event organised by the Indian segment of the Soka Gakkai International, a Japan based voluntary organisation, and is supported by the United Nations peace initiatives.

Large posters lined up at the exhibition speak volumes through interesting images. Each of the 30 posters exhibited have a unique message to pass on.

While some posters talk about the various aspects of nation building and the quintessential requirements of a successful nation, the others delve on sensitive issues such as disarmament, environmental pollution, nuclear threat, economic turmoil, global warming and materialistic psyche.

The posters also cite the famous quotes and peace messages by some of the most eminent world leaders and activists, who had devoted a large part of their lives in giving a new definition to the terms of peace and prosperity. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mikhail Gorbachev were some of the personalities whose quotes attracted visitors at the exhibition.

“One of our objectives through the exhibition of these posters is to educate young students about the various financial and ecological nuisances that are growing at an alarming rate all over the world. Since the future of the world rests in the hands of the youth, they should realise the potential hazards and be ready with the remedies,” said an official of Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG), Abhay Mishra.

Governor M.C. Bhandare, also paid visit to the exhibition and appreciated the efforts taken by the organisation.

“Today’s youth is responsible for tomorrow’s future. It is very important for them to understand the world they live in. Whatever mistakes we have made in the past, our future generations should not repeat them. We had held the exhibition this year at Rourkela, Puri, Cuttack and now Bhubaneswar. We received overwhelming responses everywhere we went, especially from students,” said the co-coordinator of BSG, P.K. Kanungo.

The exhibition will continue till February 23.
