Balangir: Police are focusing on the threat call that was received by the groom just before his engagement to bride Reema Sahu in March 2017.

A relative of the deceased groom, Soumya Sekhar, recently told the police that Soumya had received a call just before his engagement - in which the unidentified caller had threatened him with dire consequences if he went ahead to marry Reema.

The family members of the groom, too, corroborated that indeed Soumya Sekhar had received a call.

Soumya's father Rabindra Kumar Sahu said his son had got the call when he was in Bangalore.

"He had received a threat call just before his engagement. The caller, who spoke in coastal Odia language, threatened him that he would face dire consequences if went ahead to marry Reema," Sahu said.

Soumya had initially shared about the call details only with his nephew. His family came to know about it much later. They didn't give much attention to the call.

In another development, speculation is running rife that the police are getting ready for polygraph test of the suspect whom it has detained for the past three days.

Though the police have not divulged anything about the case, highly placed sources said some IT experts were also probing into the social media accounts of the deceased.

Soumya had closed his Facebook account about six months ago. He had opened a new one recently.

A senior police officer said: "The police are focusing on Bangalore, where IT experts are examining his social media accounts, laptop and phone calls to find a link to the case."

In a related development, the medical tests conducted on the detained youth at district headquarters hospital here on Tuesday gave rise to the speculation that the cops were getting ready for polygraph test of the youth, who had been identified as the anonymous caller to the groom.

Soumya and his grandmother Jemamani were killed when a parcel bomb received by them exploded in their house at Patnagarh on February 23.
