Sambalpur: All students of the second batch of the Indian Institute of Management here have secured jobs in the recently concluded campus recruitment.

Fifty-nine reputed companies provided 102 job offers to 60 students. The majority of students got two offers. The minimum monthly pay offered was Rs 70,000 and the maximum was Rs 1.60 lakh, said director of the institute Mahadeo Prasad Jaiswal.

The annual convocation of the second batch of students will be held on April 15, and chief minister Naveen Patnaik will be the chief guest of the occasion. All the students were successfully placed during the campus recruitment after the completion of their course. The admission for the third batch of students has already began through CAT.

The formalities will be completed before May, and the selected candidates will be admitted in June.

On Friday, the institute was shifted to a new building of the Sambalpur University in Burla. Earlier, students were not showing interest in joining the institute as the old building was located in an isolated place away from the main road. The new building has five classrooms and 150 rooms will be used as hostel.

The institute was registered under the Society Registration Act on August 19, 2015. The state government has allotted 237 acres for construction of its permanent campus at Basantapur near the second campus of the Gangadhar Meher University and the Sambalpur University. The construction has started, and it may take two years to complete, Jaiswal said.

The new IIM-Sambalpur is an autonomous public business school, which started on September 23, 2015 with 48 students in a private engineering college building near Sasan.
