Berhampur, May 11: Berhampur district collector Kishan Kumar yesterday launched an e-district pilot project at the tehsil office here. The project is a part of a national e-governance plan.

“The project will be implemented in all the six revenue circles of Berhampur tehsil and a revenue circle of Baripada tehsil in Mayurbhanj district. Initially, five certificates — income certificate, residence certificate, caste certificate, legal heir certificate and solvency — will be issued to people on a trial basis,” said local tehsildar Shatrughna Kar.

As a part of this project, the state government has decided to allow electronic filling, receipt, processing and delivery of miscellaneous certificates prescribed under the Orissa Miscellaneous Certificates Rules, 1984. The aim of the project is to provide service to citizens at their doorsteps.

A Bangalore-based information technology unit has installed the software for the e-district pilot project.

“People can apply online for any of these five services along with all requisite documents, photograph and necessary fees. The attachments will be sent online through scanning. The certificates to be delivered to the citizens will be generated electronically and signed digitally by the tehsildar/additional tehsildar along with an e-copy of the signature on the delivery certificates. The certificates will not require any ink-signed signature and round seal of tehsildar. Certificates will be delivered to the applicants at their respective application centres,” said an official of the software company.
