Bhubaneswar, Dec. 10: A young pair, lots of fun, action and drama summarises the under-production Oriya film Loafer.
The film, which was announced in October and is scheduled to release in the beginning of next year, is already drawing attention of the young audience.
Actress Archita and actor Babushan pair up for the first time in the film. Loafer is a romantic comedy with lots of twists and turns and a little drama, says director Ashok Pati.
“The plot is a complete entertainer and has shades of diverse emotions. Nevertheless, our main focus is comedy,” says Pati.
Loafer that has a tagline saying ‘It’s not a love story’ has a plot similar to the Genelia D’Souza and Allu Arjun-starrer Telugu film Happy.
Archita plays a medical student from a conservative but rich political family while Babushan is a fun-loving middle class boy, doing a part time job to support his MBA course.
“Both dislike each other initially but circumstances force them to enter into a registered marriage in spite of not having any feelings for each other,” says Pati.
However, after staying together for a few months, they fall in love. That is when the heroine’s father plays the villain and the film enters its climax.
“This is one of the best characters I have ever played. Working with Babushan is a lot of fun since we belong to the same age group,” says Archita. “Many girls in the state can identify with the character I play — a girl who wish to pursue higher studies but is not allowed to by her family members, who force her to marry,” adds Archita.
Babushan, who has played a mischievous and fun-loving youngster in a number of films, says this role is different this time since his character shows traits of maturity.
“Working with Ashok Pati has been an amazing experience as he gives his actors a lot of freedom,” says Babushan.
Most parts of the film have been already shot in locations such as Bhubaneswar, Puri, Koraput and Jajpur.
Actors Mihir Das, Aparajita, Meenaketan and Samaresh form the rest of the cast. Guduli Rath has composed the music for the film while the lyrics are by Bapu Goswami. Produced by Sunil Panda, the cinematography of the film is by B. Ramesh.
