Bhubaneswar: The state government has asked the collectors of Koraput, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Rayagada and Nabarangpur districts to cooperate with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team probing into the alleged irregularities in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The instructions were issued at meeting called by the state panchayati raj department here on Wednesday. Bhubaneswar: With formation of a south wind in the coastal region, the daytime temperature has recorded a sharp fall with the state capital recording 28.6 degree Celsius and Talcher 26.2 degree Celsius. Earlier, while Bhubaneswar had recorded a temperature of more than 40 degree Celsius, Talcher was continuing with more than 42 degree Celsius, and more than 14 places witnessed mercury rising above 40 degree Celsius. Bhubaneswar: Baliapanda police in Puri on Wednesday recovered the body of a 55-year-old man from a dilapidated tank in Baliapanda area. The man was identified as Himanshu Rath of Ashok Nagar, who went missing from April 21. The police have also recovered a bottle of poison from the place. According to the police, Rath had died nearly 15 days ago. The police took the body and sent it for post-mortem. Puri Police informed that the family members of the deceased had lodged a complaint with Capital police station as the person went missing. The police have lodged an unnatural death case. Bhubaneswar: Representatives of panchayati raj institutions in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday demanded an inquiry by the CBI into the murder of Hindol block chairman Nabaghana Sahu. Alleging that the block chairman was murdered with a political motive, the members of the panchayati raj institutions also added that if the state government failed to nab the accused within seven days, they would be forced to launch an agitation in the district. Bhubaneswar: The state government has withheld the salary of 252 teachers for failing to attend a training programme organised by the Orissa Primary Education Programme Authority. The school and mass education department on Wednesday issued a notice in this regard. Bhubaneswar: Shahid Nagar police on Tuesday evening rescued a 22-year-old girl working for a private telecom company who was lying in a pool of blood in a park in the Shahid Nagar area. She was soon rushed to the Capital Hospital. ccording to the police, the girl had cut her veins of both the hands. The girl, who hailed from Boudh district, was staying in a private hostel in the city. After medical intervention, her condition was learnt to be improving.
