Kendrapara: Amar Behera (35) from Pareswarpur village under Mahakalpada police jurisdiction has accused his wife of subjecting him to physical and mental torture. He has sought intervention of the state commission for women and the local police. According to the complaint lodged in this connection, Behera, a low-paid employee in a Bhubaneswar-based private company, was being ill-treated by his wife for the low salary. Berhampur: One Bali Chandra Padhi, a truck operator, sustained injury on his face when two goons hurled bombs on an office at Aska Road here on Tuesday at 8pm. Police suspect old rivalry as the reason behind the attack. The injured was admitted to the M.K.C.G. Medical College and Hospital here. Police said: “The two goons came on a bike when Santosh Kumar Swain, president of the operators' union, and four others along with Padhi were inside the office room. One of the criminals hurled a bomb on Padhi, who was sitting at the front office. However, they could manage to escape from the spot.” Sambalpur:The BJD workers in Sambalpur District on Wednesday staged a demonstration at Golbazar Chhak demanding the resignation of local MLA Jayanarayana Mishra. They alleged that Mishra had a role in the horse trading for Rajy Sabha elections. The BJD workers took out a rally and burnt Mishra's effigy. “The act of the local MLA has tarnished the image of the city and hence, he should immediately resign from his post,” said Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, former BJD district president. Former health minister Sanatan Bishi said: “Mishra has lost the moral right to remain as an Assembly member. He should step down from the post and face the people of Sambalpur.” Bhubaneswar: The 17th All Odisha junior, senior and 2nd sub-junior, billiard and snooker state championship, 2011, began on Wednesday at Cue Sports Academy in Jaydev Vihar in Bhubaneswar. The sub-junior level was concluded on the opening day itself with Chirag Arora beating state sub-junior rank one Asutosh Padhy (3-2) in the finals. Latif has a number of cases registered against him in various police stations Bhubaneswar: The body of Biswajit Priyadarshan, who had gone missing while taking a bath in Puri beach, was found at the Ramachandi beach on Wednesday. Biswajit, a student of ITER engineering college, Bhubaneswar, had been missing since 3pm on Tuesday.
