Bhubaneswar: Health secretary Anu Garg, inaugurating a seminar organised on occasion of World Health Day 2011 by the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday, asked for creating awareness among health practitioners to get control over the ever-increasing incidences of anti-microbial resistance by judicious use of antibiotics. “In Orissa, we encounter drug resistance in the spheres of diseases like tuberculosis, malaria and typhoid. These diseases are resistant to some drugs or antibiotics. So it is our duty to act upon this issue and create awareness among the health care providers and in the society as a whole so that the problem of drug resistance is minimised and we could ensure a safe future for the coming generations,” she said.
