Two injured in attack

Bhubaneswar: Two students of Ravenshaw University were injured in an attack by a group of outsiders near the College Square area on Monday. he injured have been identified as Somnath Daripa and Sarbeswar Das, both final-year commerce students. ccording to reports, some unidentified persons attacked Daripa when he was going for his tuition around 5pm. he students of the varsity later staged a protest at Malgodown police station and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits. Late in the evening, they staged a roadblock at College Square until police chased them away.

Berhampur: Students protested at the School of Nursing at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, on Monday demanding the transfer of the institute's principal. At least 144 students sat on a dharna shouting slogans against the principal. Principal Basanti Chhatra refuted all the allegations of the students.

30 girls fall ill

Bhubaneswar: At least 30 girls of a residential school in Rayagada have been admitted to a hospital after a food poisoning case. The incident was reported from a residential school in Bisamkatak, run by the state welfare department. According to the headmaster of the school, the students began vomiting, showed symptoms of diarrhoea and fever after consuming the mid-day meal.

Roadblock

Bhubaneswar: CPI (M) activists on Monday staged a road blockade at Chatrapur in Ganjam demanding action on the custodial death of Lalita Dehuri. who was found hanging inside the Chamakhandi police station lockup on March 1. According to reports, Dehuri was arrested 20 days ago but not produced in the court. He was allegedly subjected to severe physical torture, as a result of which he died.
