Bhubaneswar: The state government has invited fresh applications for admission to vacant seats in junior and degree colleges, which is separate from the 15 per cent additional seat enrolment for “local” students. Candidates, who could not apply, did not get a seat or let go of their chance during normal period of e-admissions, are eligible. The admission process has to be completed by August 31. Rourkela: The intelligence unit of the Director General of Central Excise stations claimed to have unearthed a fraud by Concast Steel at Jharsuguda during a raid. The unit said the company had evaded Central excise to the tune of Rs 15 crore by allegedly forging documents of production, purchase, dispatch, sale and amounts received after sale. Paradip: A motorcyclist was killed when a truck ran over him at Rahama market place under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur district. Police seized the body of Kalia Mohanty and sent it to the nearby government hospital for an autopsy. Paradip: A migrant fish worker drowned in Paradip fishing harbour after accidentally falling down from a fishing vessel. The deceased, V. Vanaraju, was from Andhra Pradesh. While loading ice blocks on the vessel, he slipped and fell into the water.
