Dancers arrested

Bhubaneswar: Laxmi Sagar police arrested six persons, including three youths who were part of a Calcutta-based dance troupe being featured in an Odia film, for getting into a fight with each other on Wednesday at a hotel near Kalpana Square. Four of them were injured and had to be admitted to a hospital. Police have registered two separate cases.

BJD leader hurt

Bhubaneswar: BJD member K. Simadri suffered a bullet injury in his neck after a group of armed robbers attacked him on the Khurda-Balugaon national highway on Wednesday night. He has been admitted to a private hospital. The leader was coming to Bhubaneswar from Rayagada with some friends.

Bear attack

Balasore: A 75-year-old man was admitted to the headquarters hospital here after a bear attack left him with serious injuries.

Power cut

Balasore: Power had been disrupted in several parts of the town following a breakdown in some major grid stations following a cyclonic storm on Wednesday. Power supply was partly restored by Thursday afternoon.

Accident protest

Balasore: Local residents went on a rampage on Wednesday night after a passenger bus from Bhubaneswar hit a motorcyclist near ITI Square here. The victim, Manoranjan Mohanty, 39, was rushed to the headquarters hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
