Bhubaneswar: The state government will develop a comprehensive master plan for the mining and coal block areas of the state. The first draft report of the plan will be completed by the end of April. he plan will contain the blueprint of alignment of roads, railway lines and rehabilitation sites along with other service-based infrastructure. The steel and mines department has been asked to fix a timeline for setting up end-use plants of coal blocks meant for use within the state. Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday did a minor rejig in the police hierarchy. While Pratik Mohanty was appointed as superintendent of police (SP) of Sambalpur, Nikhil Kanodia, was posted as SP of Mayurbhanj. Anirudha Kumar Singh and Kabita Jallan were appointed as SPs of Berhampur and Keonjhar respectively. Bhubaneswar: Mahila police on Wednesday arrested a person who was involved in a gang rape incident and had been absconding since December last year. The accused, Pabitra Kumar Nanda was arrested from Udala in Mayurbhanj district. Nanda along with four others had raped a girl working for an orchestra party in Nayapalli. The police had arrested the four others earlier. Cuttack: Two persons died in separate freak accidents at the Cuttack railway station on Wednesday. While Trinath Nayak, 45, of Salepur was killed after he got stuck between the platform and a train, a passenger travelling in the Yashwantpur-Howrah Duronto Express died after falling from platform No. 2. The deceased passenger was identified as Lingaraj Pradhan, 32, of Puri.
