Sweeper arrested in ATM theft case
Sambalpur: Jharsuguda police have arrested a person for looting cash from an ATM of Indian Bank at Beheramal here. The sweeper of the bank Amit Kumar had managed to break open the ATM machine on September 3 and had kept the cash in his house. Police said he confessed to the crime. Bhubaneswar: Orissa High Court rejected a PIL challenging the shifting of the camp office of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) from the capital to Rourkela. The petitioners said the shift would lead to communication gap with the authorities as most technical colleges were in Bhubaneswar.The division bench of Chief Justice V. Gopala Gowda and Justice S.K. Mishra rejected the plea, saying it did not involve any public interest. Bhubaneswar: Tension spread at the Paradip Phosphates Ltd after death of a worker by electrocution. The worker was welding a tank when he came in contact with electricity. The labour union, while demanding compensation for the victim, also demanded safer working conditions. Sambalpur: A 45-year-old woman was tied to a pole and beaten up by a group of people at Jayaghant, a village in Dhama police station area, around 15km from here on Thursday evening.
