Three held for murder

Cuttack: Police have registered a murder case after Tapas Choudhry, injured in a shootout between two groups at Bidanasi on Wednesday night, succumbed to his injuries on Friday. We have arrested three persons under Section 302 for murder, after one of the victims succumbed to his bullet injury at SCB and four others in connection with the firing incident,” said deputy commissioner of police S. Praveen Kumar. The incident was fallout of a sudden provocation following argument between the two groups on Wednesday night.

Couple in net

Kendrapara: A 70-year-old man and his 29-year-old wife were arrested on Friday for allegedly killing the man’s brother and his two children at Talagaon village in Patkura on October 2. he charred remains of 55-year-old Akshay, his son Kalindi, 30, and daughter Madhusmita, 22, were found from their house. The accused were identified as Bijoy Pattnaik and his wife Rina, 29. Property dispute is said to be the motive behind the incident.

Elephant saved

Bhubaneswar: A herd of jumbos on Friday saved an elephant calf after he fell into a well in Ganjam district. The incident took place at Jhariambagaon under Khallikote forest range.
