Bhubaneswar: Around 500 section officers, assistant section officers and desk officers working with the state secretariat on Thursday staged a dharna at the entrance of the office building, protesting the government’s decision to introduce a new grade pay system. The dharna was withdrawn after a delegation met the chief minister, who assured them to examine the matter within a week. Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police on Thursday arrested an autorickshaw driver, Suresh Chandra Guin, for attacking and attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman. The accused was drunk and attacked the woman near Old police station at Mancheswar. Bhubaneswar: One person was killed when an elephant attacked him early on Thursday at Balisankara in Sundergarh. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Kastu Bariah. The jumbo, which had got separated from its herd, has so far killed five people.
