Cuttack: A 35-year-old unemployed youth was allegedly murdered by two of his nephews over property dispute at Kazipatna in the Sadar police limits on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Gagan Samal, 35. Both the accused are absconding and efforts are on to nab them, said deputy commissioner of police S. Praveen Kumar. Bhubaneswar: Health minister Damodar Rout said his department was taking several measures to free Odisha of AIDS by 2015. Health secretary P.K. Mohapatra said a total of 2,583 HIV positive cases had been detected in the state this year. The total number of people infected with HIV in the state stands at 30,000. Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik said in the Assembly that seven security personnel and 21 Maoists had been killed while 87 ultras had surrendered till November. Naveen said the biggest incident of Maoist outrage was an ambush in Koraput district, which killed four BSF personnel. Bhubaneswar: Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh wrote to chief minister Naveen Patnaik, stating that an expenditure-based fund-release system had been instituted to release money from the Centre to states. The system will ensure that the money flow is streamlined, so that every state is assured of adequate funds to implement the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
