Pati takes charge

Bhubaneswar: Gokul Chandra Pati took the office of chief secretary on Friday evening. He succeeded Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, who has joined the central government as Union fertiliser secretary. Pati said he would lay stress on infrastructure development, health, education and agriculture.

DGP in court

Cuttack: Director-general of police (DGP) Sanjiv Marik appeared before Orissa High Court’s single bench of Justice S. Pujahari on Friday following a summon in case of non-compliance of order on a bail petition for production of case diary by the inspector in charge of a Sundargarh police station. The court had fixed nine dates for production of the case diary on bail petitions of three persons arrested in an extortion case registered at Raiboga police station.

Rape case

Balasore: Police on Friday registered a case of gang-rape against one police inspector and a home guard, acting on the compliant of a 42-year-old victim. The case has been registered at Industrial police station, where one of the accused, Maheswar Sethi, was posted as inspector in-charge.
