Bhubaneswar: The state government directed all district collectors to be strict about brick kilns operating near rivers as they cause pollution to the water bodies and harm the ecology, said a revenue department official. Earlier, tehsildars had been asked to collect fine from the kiln owners, who flouted the rule. Rourkela: Security forces seized explosives and other materials during a combing operation in the district on the eve of Martyrs’ Day. The jawans are guarding railway lines, keeping a strict vigil on bordering areas and movement of cross border vehicles.
