Bhubaneswar: The 24th annual conference of Eurasian Silk Road Universities Consortium will be held at KIIT University here from November 1 to 3. The theme of the conference is “investing the social, cultural and global issues along the silk road”. More than 200 vice-chancellors and rectors from various universities will take part in the event. Bhubaneswar: The first truckload of terafil filters from the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology was released for flood-hit pockets of Ganjam district to obtain safe drinking water. The institute will send 1,500 such filters to the flood-affected areas in phases. Bhubaneswar: The women and child development department has asked for financial assistance of Rs 35 crore to restore its damaged anganwadi centres in 20 districts in the wake of Phailin and floods. An official said 1,419 buildings had been partially damaged, while 272 structures were fully destroyed. Bhubaneswar: Police arrested four dacoits when they were attempting to commit robbery in the State Bank of India branch at Kalunga near Rourkela. The cops seized firearms, live cartridges and masks from them.
