Bhubaneswar: The Central Board of Secondary Education has given its nod for setting up of three more exam centres for the JEE (Mains)-2014 in Angul, Bhawanipatna and Jeypore following demands from engineering aspirants here. This is in addition to six approved centres in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Balasore and Rourkela. Bhubaneswar: An expert team of World Bank and Asian Development Bank visited cyclone-hit areas in Ganjam district to assess the damage. The 14-member team along with government officers split into groups and visited slum pockets in Berhampur and coastal villages in Ganjam, Chhatrapur and Rangeilunda blocks. The team will visit Khurda and Puri districts. Angul: Forty-nine persons, including independent MLA of Talcher Braja Kishor Pradhan, were taken into preventive custody for staging a dharna in front of two colliery sidings at Talcher coalfield. They were demanding job continuation of labourers in the new contract in the sidings. Kendrapara: A local court convicted two persons for jewellery shop theft case over four years ago. The court held Hitesh Desai and Amarendra Khilar guilty of the crime and sentenced the duo to three-year imprisonment for stealing 750 grams of gold and 8 kg of silver jewellery from a shop in Chandol area in February 2009. Bhubaneswar: Nearly 20 lakh people visited the Odisha Pavilion during the India International Trade Fair-2013, which concluded in New Delhi.
