Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths arrested Nabakeshi Desinayak, the social education organiser of K. Nuagaon block in Kandhamal district, for demanding illegal gratification of Rs 8,000 from an egg supplier Padma Charan Sahu to process the bill for payment of arrear dues amounting to Rs 74,090.

Electrocuted

Kendrapara: A technical supervisor of a mobile phone tower died at Jaanpada village within the limits of Patkura police station on Wednesday after being electrocuted by high-tension electric wire. The deceased was identified as Srinibas Parida, 33. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. An unnatural death case has been registered, said a source in the police, adding that the body had been sent for post-mortem.

Accident

Bhubaneswar: A driver was rescued from a truck that turned turtle after police cut the doors of the vehicle using gas cutter at Hitech Square on Wednesday morning. The police have not yet been able to establish his identity as he has remained unconscious since morning. Sources said that two trucks collided with each other at the square, in which the driver of this vehicle got stuck.

Flood death

Baripada: The body of a man, who was swept away by the flood water near Kaptipada two days ago, was found near Baradihighat of GB Nagar block within the limits of Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday. The deceased, Pradip Lenka, 31, was missing since Monday
