Pre-poll violence
Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Rajdhani College after an aspirant contesting the students’ union elections was injured in pre-poll violence on Saturday. According to reports, Biswajit Swain, a Plus III second year student, was allegedly attacked by a group of non-students. In his complaint lodged at Khandagiri police station, Swain claimed that some outsiders attacked him with sharp weapons and threatened him of dire consequences if he contested the elections.
Swine flu toll
Bhubaneswar: Two more persons died of swine flu on Saturday taking the death toll to 47 in the state so far. While a three-year-old boy died at a private hospital in the city, a 50-year-old woman died in another hospital.
Harassment
Balangir: A woman schoolteacher lodged a written complaint with police levelling sexual harassment charges against the headmaster of the school on Saturday. The complaint has been filed with the Puintala Police Station.
Accident
Sundargarh: About 15 persons were injured on Saturday after the bus in which they were traveling met with an accident in Bonai on National Highway-143.
