Machines damaged
Koraput: Maoists set three earth excavators on fire at Darliput village under Lamtaput block of Koraput district on Sunday night. The three machines were completely damaged in the fire, sources said. Before fleeing the spot, they left a poster on the behalf of Srikakulam-Koraput division of the Maoists protesting illegal lifting of sand from a quarry on Darliput river.
Protest
Cuttack: Tension prevailed at Government Industrial Training Institute of Khapuria on Tuesday after students locked the main gate of the institute. The students staged a protest against biometric system failure at the institute alleging it to be the reason for shortage of attendance. The students alleged that due to the glitch in the system at times, the count of attendance varied for which they faced difficulties at the time of examinations. The students said they were debarred from examinations sometimes.
Mass fish deaths
Berhampur: Hundreds of dead fish were seen floating near Gopalpur port in Ganjam district. According to reports, poisonous chemical in the water led to the deaths, although the source of the chemicals is unknown.
MSME day
Bhubaneswar: International MSME day was celebrated on Tuesday. The department minister Prafulla Samal stressed the importance of the sector in the state’s development. He urged all banks to take urgent steps to achieve the first half-yearly target fixed for November.
