Sunstroke ward
Berhampur: A sunstroke ward was opened in City Hospital on Saturday. “We have plans to open sunstroke wards in 30 community health centres and 89 primary health centres in Ganjam district before summer. All the health centres have also been asked to stock adequate oral rehydration sachets and provide cold drinking water, fan and cooler facilities,” said U.S. Mishra, the chief district medical officer of Ganjam.
Training
Cuttack: Board of Secondary Education, Odisha on Monday will conduct a training programme for over 15,000 examiners who will be engaged in the evaluation of matriculation answer sheets that starts from Tuesday. The evaluation is expected to be completed within eight to ten days
and examiners will be asked to ensure an error free job.
Man drowns
Baripada: A man drowned on Sunday while fishing in a boat in Sulaipat dam.The deceased has been identified as Sabun Hembram. The fire officials are yet to recover the body so far, despite a search operation.
Liquor seized
Balasore: Three persons were arrested and illicit liquor along with bottling equipment seized at a village in Simulia area of Balasore on Sunday. A flying squad of excise department together with police raided a house at Maitapur village and arrested three persons involved in illicit liquor business.
The team seized 150 litres of spirit, 300 bottles, labels of various IMFL brands and a bottling machine from the house.

Berhampur: Claiming that mineral-rich states like Odisha would be worst affected if the land acquisition bill became an Act, CPM on Sunday said party supporters would demonstrate in Bhubaneswar on March 17 to protest against the measure.
High court ceasework
Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Bar Association will cease work on Monday in response to the nationwide call given by the Bar Council of India to protest against the Allahabad incident in which a lawyer was killed in police firing. The state bar council has also given a call to all bar associations in the state to cease work on Monday.
Frauds held
Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday arrested Ram Chandra Samal, Bharat Chandra Samal, Ashok Kumar Dash and Nabaghan Bhoi in connection with a land fraud. The accused had sold a patch of land to Manoj Lenka for Rs 24 lakh in 2011. Lenka had lodged a complaint with Saheed Nagar police station in December last year.

Bhubaneswar: Rajesh Dan, 21, who went on missing from Ganganagar on Sunday, was found in
Jharsuguda. Dan’s kin
alleged that he was kidnapped. Police suspect that Rajesh went to Jharsuguda by himself.
Rape cuffs
Paradip: A minor girl was allegedly raped at a slum colony in Paradip police station limits in Jagatsinghpur. Tapan Khuntia, 26, was arrested following a complaint lodged in this connection.
