Bhubaneswar: The sports and youth services department on Thursday announced cash award of Rs 2.50 lakh for international hockey player Birendra Lakra, who was the part of the gold-winning Indian team at the recently-concluded Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Besides, the government also has declared cash award of Rs 75,000 each for four women hockey players who were part of the bronze medal winning India team at the Asian Games. Bhubaneswar: A technical snag in the BSNL server disrupted the banking services in the city on Thursday. However, the service resumed late afternoon after the snag was repaired. BSNL officials said that a software problem had occurred, which disrupted the Internet links. Cuttack: Tension prevailed at Choudwar after a youth died in an LPG cylinder blast on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Seikh Ramzani, 21. Police sources said an LPG cylinder inside a kiosk set up for the Gajalaxmi Puja had initially caught fire at around 10.30am. The cylinder exploded when firemen were dousing the flames. Balasore: Baliapal police detained a father-son duo, after two counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination were seized from their possession on Thursaday. They were identified as, Bijay Behera, 52, and Ashok Behera, 26, of Naharpada.
