Molest cuffs

Bhubaneswar: Malkangiri police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly molesting a tribal woman in the district. The incident took place on Wednesday, but the matter came to light after a mobile phone video recording of the alleged incident went viral on social media in the region. Police registered a suo motu case in connection with the incident and arrested the accused. The statement of the victim has already been recorded. 

VC in-charge

Bhubaneswar: Technical education secretary Sanjay Singh has been appointed as the vice-chancellor (in-charge) of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology following the resignation of Shyam Sundar Patnaik from the post. Patnaik’s resignation was accepted by governor S.C. Jamir, the chancellor of the varsity. Singh will be in charge of the university till the appointment of new VC.

Five dead

Bhubaneswar: Five persons were killed after a pick-up van overturned in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday morning. Thirteen others have suffered critical injuries. The injured have been admitted to the nearest sub-divisional hospital under critical condition for treatment. The accident took place near Damasahi Square in the district.

Man tonsured

Bhubaneswar: Local residents in Balasore district on Sunday punished a person for allegedly stealing a bicycle in a crowded market. The incident occurred near Nuabazar vegetable market under Sahadevkhunta police limits after a vendor's bicycle was stolen from the market. The local residents tied up the hands of the man and tonsured him 
as punishment.
