Similipal closed

Baripada: Similipal National Park and Sanctuary in Odisha has been closed for visitors from Friday following the arrival of monsoon. An official of Similipal Tiger Reserve said that the prohibition period for visitors started from June and would extend up to the end of October as the road connectivity in the sanctuary was disrupted due to rainfall. The sanctuary will reopen from the first week of November.   

Train service 

Bhubaneswar: The railways will begin passanger train services to Nayagarh from June 19. Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu will launch the service through video conferencing.

Complaint 

Bhubaneswar: BJP state unit president Basant Panda has complained against senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra to BJP president Amit Shah for criticising senior leaders of the party, including Union petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan. However, Pradhan and Mohapatra refused to comment on this issue.

Betting

Berhampur: Police on Friday busted a cricket-betting racket and arrested five persons in this connection at Marthapeta in Bada Bazaar police limits in Berhampur. The Bada Bazaar and Town police conducted a joint raid at Marthapeta on Thursday night when betting was going on during the India-Bangladesh match. 

Rape

Sambalpur: A 47-year-old married woman has been allegedly gang-raped at Chichinda village in Chandanimal panchayat in Brajrajnagar police limits in Jharsuguda district. The woman is a daily labourer and used to live alone.
