Molest on street

Bhubaneswar: Mob thrashed a 23-year-old man for allegedly molesting a minor girl at Aiginia Square in Khandagiri police limits here on Wednesday. The accused, a native of Ganjam and mason by profession, allegedly pulled the girl down from a running auto-rickshaw and hugged her publicly. He was later handed over to police. “We have detained the youth and are interrogating him. The girl is yet to lodge a complaint,” said a police officer.   

Rape arrest 

Bhubaneswar: Mahila police on Wednesday arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping a 36-year-old woman. The accused, Bhabani Sankar Swain, runs a firm that provides service to banking institutions. He had been enjoying physical relationship with the woman for the last three year by promising to marry her.

Power cut

Bhubaneswar: Power supply in Bhadrak town and nearby areas was adversely affected after a major fire broke out during trial of a new grid at Barikpur on Wednesday. The entire Bhadrak town and other nearby areas plunged into darkness as power supply was cut-off in the region as a precautionary measure.

Sarpanch held 

Kalahandi: Police held a sarpanch of Kalahandi district on Wednesday for allegedly raping a minor girl at Badachhatranga village. According to the police complaint, Hadinga Majhi had a physical 
relationship with the minor, a Dalit, on the pretext of marriage.
