Bhubaneswar, July 28: Odia film star Sabyasachi Mishra's longstanding dream of working in the south Indian film industry is all set to come true.
The actor will be playing the lead role in upcoming Telugu film Neerajanam.
"I have always wanted to work in south Indian films. Their films are made on a grand scale and would give me an exposure. I am happy that the opportunity has finally come my way," said Sabyasachi.
Telugu actress Karunya is playing the female lead and debutant director Avan Alla will direct the film.
"My character starts off as a very easy going and happy go lucky one. But as the film proceeds, he turns serious. I have not played such intense roles before, so, I am eagerly looking forward to do it," said the 29-year-old actor.
According to him, being the brand ambassador for the IPL team, Deccan Chargers, helped him a lot.
"I travelled with the team for promotional activities in various places across south India and got opportunities to meet a number of film-makers and producers," said the actor who has worked in over 25 Odia films.
"That apart, I am also good friends with a number of eminent technicians from the south who are invited to work in Odia films. They also introduced me to popular directors there. So, all these helped me get the big break there," he said.
The opening ceremony of the film was held in Hyderabad last week where the teaser was launched. A similar film by the same name was also released in 1988. The term Neerajanam means a wish from the heart.
"The film in which I am working in is not a remake. Only the names are similar," said Sabyasachi who won a Filmfare Award (East) in 2007. It will be shot in Andhra Pradesh and in a few foreign locations. The actor has churned out back-to-back hit films, including Mu Eka Tumara in 2013 and Smile Please in 2014. His latest Pilata Bigidigala will be releasing in August.
"I have come back to Bhubaneswar as Pilata Bigidigala is about to release. I will leave by the end of August," said Sabyasachi.
The comedy film is directed by veteran film-maker Basant Sahu and Archita Sahu is playing the female lead. "I have played romantic roles in a number of films but here I will be doing some crazy things for my beloved. Romance has been treated in a very unique way," said the actor.
