Bhubaneswar, Feb. 15: Fans of R. Madhavan and Bipasha Basu must be thrilled about the Bollywood flick Jodi Breakers that is all set to release this month. However, people in the state have another reason to cheer, as Odia boy Birenjyoti Mohanty is the editor of the film.

Before making it big in Bollywood, the young editor who had initially worked for many popular television soaps as the chief editor and assisted in many films, got his big break in 2009 film Luck.

He was busy with documentaries and short films for the next couple of years when director Ashwini Chaudhary approached him for Jodi Breakers.

“I feel I was really lucky to have got an opportunity to work with Ashwini Chaudhary. It was a wonderful experience and there was so much that I learned on the sets,” says Birenjyoti. The 28-year-old has also become good friends with the lead pair of the film. “Madhavan is an awesome person and is very fond of technology, which is something I am always up-to-date about.

“Therefore, we shared a great rapport and used to discuss gadgets at lengths whenever there was a break during the shoot. Similarly, Bipasha, despite being a celebrity, was very friendly and professional. She threw no tantrums whatsoever and is a very warm person,” said Mohanty.

Having accompanied the crew from Greece to Goa, Birenjyoti feels there were many special experiences during the making of the film. “But the most special one was to get a pat on the back from none other than Helenji who also plays a cameo in the film. I was really nervous when my director and all the stars sat around me along with Helenji to see how I had edited a song. But it was wonderful when all of them appreciated my work. I really want the film to be successful since all of us have given our best and worked hard fors it,” he said.

Despite working in Bollywood, Birenjyoti finds time for Odia films. “I started my career in Odisha and I have a strong bond with this industry. I recently worked for my mentor Susant Mani for his film Chocolate and it was simply amazing to be here. There may be different professional standards in Mumbai and Odisha, but I get a great deal of satisfaction from being a part of Odia films and to see the industry there grow,” said Mohanty who is busy with some major Bollywood projects.
