Bhubaneswar, March 28: The head of the agriculture meteorology department at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Surendranath Pasupalak, has been selected as the new vice-chancellor of the varsity today.
Pasupalak was selected by the chancellor of universities and governor S.C. Jamir after an extensive interview session of the three shortlisted candidates for the coveted post.
The search committee of the varsity had shortlisted incumbent vice-chancellor Manoranjan Kar, former dean S. Nanda and Pasupalak.
The shortlisted candidates were intimated yesterday to be present before the chancellor for a personal interaction at the Raj Bhavan. The name of the new OUAT vice-chancellor was announced in the afternoon.
Pasupalak, who is well-known for his weather forecasts and its impact on agriculture of the sate, will succeed the present vice-chancellor Manoranjan Kar.
