Bhubaneswar, Aug. 22: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today set new goals for the bureaucracy to "transform governance for public good".
"Let Team Odisha create a new brand of development," Naveen said while addressing the state's bureaucrats at a workshop titled Vision for Odisha at the secretariat here today. He directly spoke to the secretaries, district collectors, police superintendents and other district-level officers, who took part through videoconferencing.
On June 17 and 18, the state government had held a workshop for the district collectors to provide better public service delivery through good governance, and the chief minister had focused on 3-Ts (teamwork, transparency and technology).
Again he set new goals today, enunciating the vision of Odisha. "I want Team Odisha to take the state to the next level of governance to a modern, empowered and progressive New Odisha," said Naveen.
The chief minister asked the bureaucrats to take bold decisions keeping people in their focus. "I will stand behind you. All your good work will be recognised and rewarded," he said.
He said Odisha had shown it could ensure zero casualty in the face of a super cyclone, build one million houses in two years, better the national average in infant mortality rate, move a record eight million people out of poverty, double the agricultural income and play a vital role in the National Food Security, settle maximum land in favour of tribal people under the Forest Rights Act, lead the country by having the No. 1 Smart City, have half a million tribal students and take the challenge of hosting a global sporting event in 90 days.
"Let Team Odisha resolve to make the state best state to live in. Let Team Odisha create a new brand of development," he said.
Chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said: "The past 17 years have seen a big transformation. We are no longer at the bottom at the national level. We have to keep up the pace and ensure that people get the service at the right time."
