Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday called for the alumni association of BJB College to actively take part in promoting the state government's education schemes.

"You might be aware of the Mo School programme that I announced on Children's Day. I would like to suggest that you to join as partners in this programme and make it a success. You can play the role of mentors and contribute to the school that was your alma mater," said Naveen while inaugurating the diamond jubilee celebration of the college's alumni association, BJB Friends.

He expressed hope that members of the association would inspired by Buxi Jagabandhu and exhibit strength of character, willpower and fighting spirit for the interest the state.

"Success in personal endeavours, rise in career graph, and happiness in family life is everyone's dream. Though we devote most of our time for personal achievement, we also have a duty towards the society we live in. We must take some time off our busy schedules and contribute something to the society," he added.

Academics, former and current students of the college took part in the meeting in a bid to reinforce camaraderie among the alumni and to generate funds for a corpus.

"Our aim is to promote academic excellence among stakeholders and guide current students in their careers," said association president Jagannath Mohapatra.

The association also organised an inter-college quiz. After a preliminary written test, six groups were selected for the final round and the winners were felicitated on Sunday.
