Rourkela: Local MLA Dilip Ray on Thursday raised a question mark about the proposed medical college at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH), which was announced by Prime Minister Naredra Modi earlier.

"Uncertainty hangs over the fate of the medical college at IGH, which was announced by the PM on two occasions," said the BJP MLA. "The PM's intention is honest. But down the line when it comes to execution, there is always lack of interest," said Ray.

"There has been no progress in the project in the last three years," he added.

Ray, however, added that the Prime Minister's Office was taking keen interest in developing some good departments at IGH so that it could move on the path of being a superspecialty hospital in near future. "The PMO has sanctioned Rs 200 crores for strengthening the cardiology, oncology and neurology departments at the hospital," said Ray.
