Phulbani: A 15-year-old tribal boy strangulated his younger brother to death over a minor quarrel at Kuilari village in Phiringia police limits of Kandhamal district.

The body of the Class-V student, a who had been missing since January 12, was found in a forested area near the village. As the body was in a decomposed state, it was sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for medico-legal test.

The accused boy had strangulated his brother on January 12 while they were returning home from school.

On the way, the duo had a minor quarrel. The accused had, in a sudden fit of rage, strangulated his sibling with a belt that he was wearing. Later, he had dumped the body in a roadside ditch, police said, adding that the juvenile offender confessed to the crime.

The juvenile delinquent was produced in the juvenile justice board, the police said.
