Koraput: Maoists have vowed to intensify their activities in the coming days, alleging that police are putting up anti-Maoist posters in the name of various tribal organisations in the district.
The rebels belonging to the Kalimela area committee have sent letters to a few mediapersons in Malkangiri district in this regard.
The police are putting up posters in the name of tribal outfits to demoralise our cadres and organisation. However, we are not scared over the developments. Our fight for the legitimate rights of the tribal and poor will continue and will be more intensified, reads the letter.
Through the posters the police are trying to create a divide between the Maoists and the tribal people, it further said. The letter alleges that the police are asking the villagers to snap ties with the Maoists.
On the other hand, the police said the allegations were baseless and the Maoists were panicked over their diminishing support base in the district.
"We never put up anti-Maoist posters. After realising that they got nothing by supporting the Maoist organisations, the villagers are voluntarily snapping ties with the rebels, and the Maoists are panicked over this," said Malkangiri superintendent of police Jagmohan Meena.
