Manage dengue with patience and care

Several metros, tier-II cities and rural pockets across the state have become breeding grounds for dengue carrier mosquito Aedes aegypti. However, doctors say that there is nothing to panic if the disease is managed with patience. Experts say that fatality rate in dengue cases is just 0.3 per cent and almost 99 per cent of patients can be cured with proper treatment and care at home. As there is no specific drug for the ailment, patients have to depend on simple medicines such as paracetamol, adequate fluid intake and complete rest. The Telegraph talks to associate professor-cum-deputy medical superintendent of AIIMS Bhubaneswar Binod Kumar Patra on the disease and its management
