Bhubaneswar, Oct. 20: A 57-year-old super class contractor today allegedly died after falling from the roof of 10-storeyed building of Idco Tower here this afternoon.

The body of Gajendra Das, a resident of Paradip in Jagatsinghpur, was found lying in a pool of blood on the premises of the government building.

It is suspected that the contractor committed suicide following non-payment of his bills.

"He used to visit the Idco frequently for collection of bill and I had even taken him there last evening. But today I did not take him to the building. He was upset over non-payment of huge amount of bill. I came to know about his death from the media," said Umesh Ghadai, the driver of Gajendra.

Police have also seized a suicide note in which the Umesh Ghadai has held Idco responsible.

"We heard a sound at around 2.15pm and when we rushed to the spot we saw the man lying in a pool of blood. His shoes were lying at some distance. Later we informed the police," said a security guard deployed at the building.

The 10-storeyed building houses several government and private establishments. However, barring a few private establishments, most of the offices were today closed for puja vacation.

The Police said that preliminary investigation suggested that the deceased might have committed suicide.

"The exact reason behind the incident is to yet be ascertained. We have sent the body for post-mortem," said inspector in-charge of Saheed Nagar police station, Deepak Kumar Mishra.
