Lab confirms avian flu in Bhubaneswar

The city has been put on alert after blood samples of dead crows collected from Salia Sahi tested positive for bird flu (H5N1 virus).

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 16: The city has been put on alert after blood samples of dead crows collected from Salia Sahi tested positive for bird flu (H5N1 virus).

The samples, drawn on January 3, had been sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Disease in Bhopal. The fisheries and animal resource development department has communicated the institute's report to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and issued a fresh set of advisories to avoid spread of the disease in the city.
