Berhampur, Dec. 2: Junior doctors of MKCG Medical College and Hospital decided to launch an indefinite cease work from December 4 demanding security and infrastructure development at the facility.
“We are giving the authorities 24 hours to make alternative arrangements so that the health care services are not affected,” said president of Junior Doctors’ Association Suvendu Kumar Hota.
Around 200 junior doctors are wearing black badges from yesterday.
“Assaults on doctors have increased a lot and in many cases the junior doctors bear the brunt. Most of these incidents occurred due to absence of life-saving instruments,” said Hota. They had also handed over a memorandum to the superintendent on November 27.
The demands of the doctors include tight security in all the wards, increase in number of beds, 24x7 ECG test facility in casualty ward and deployment of armed police among others.
