Bhubaneswar, Feb. 12: This year, the Odia Film Fair Awards will felicitate a costume designer, who has been associated with the industry for the past 20 years.

For Nirmal Das, who is a familiar face in the industry, the award would mean recognition for his behind-the-scenes contribution. Last year, spotboy Ram Singh was felicitated.

White Canvas Foundation, a cultural outfit, in association with The Telegraph, is hosting the awards.

"We started the concept last year where we decided to felicitate an unsung hero of the industry. Without a costume designer, the actors and actresses would never look appealing to the audience," said Ullash Chandra Behura, chairman of the organising committee.

The award, which is in its sixth edition this year, will take place at the Bali yatra ground, Cuttack, tomorrow. Arrangements have been made for over 12,000 people. The awards will be given in 30 categories including best film, best actor (male and female), best director, best singer (male and female), best lyricist, best actor in a comic and negative role and best choreographer.

Besides, director and actor Prashant Nanda will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award.

Another highlight of the event would be Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who will engage the audience with his comic skills.

As a tribute to veteran lyricist Md Nizam, singers Satyajit Pradhan, Abhiram Khuntia, Sangram Mohanty, Saumya Ranjan Mishra, Anwesha Dash, Bagmi Bhattacharya, Monali Madhusmita and Siuli Ghosh will perform his hit songs.
